2017 Art Merit, Community Service & Best Essay Winner

On 7 July 2017, the American Exty Service Association (AFSA) scholarship funds will give the 24 foreign service high school seniors of the AFSA merit awards 2017, all children of AFSA members. The recipients receive $ 2,500 as winner, $ 1,000 as a honorable mention of winners and 500 US dollar artists. A total of 45,500 USD this year. AFSA received a total of 105 applications in this year's competition.

Art Merit Award winner - $ 2,500 / creative writing

Linda K. Fitzgerald Memorial Community Service Award Winner - $ 2,500

Claudia won the Community Service Award based on the following activities to which she participated in high school.

• Club Founder, Teaching Assistant and Volunteer at the Shiny Hope for Communities (Shofco), which is a non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on improving local residents in Kibera, Kenya (East Africas's largest informal settlement).
According to State of New York, Daniel O'Donnell (D-Manhattan) to support the state of New York's state member to support improving life of its components.
• founder of "unity with love", an organization to help Ebola-affected children to watch and sell bracelets in a crisis.
